View Full Version : making the switch

too sythetic oil. My manual calls for HD oil only but I see most of the sportbikes use sythetic. what are you opinions of this and I am concerned with how too switch it over w/o hurting my bike. I just turned 5k on the bike and am on a fresh oil change. I was considering switching too synthetic. I hear its better. Is it? If so what brand would you guys recommend.

Royal Purple!! But wait till you got about 10-12,000 on it before u make the switch to syn.

Is there any thing I would need too do too prep the bike for a switch?

No, it just has a better "break in" if you run conventional till about 10-12k, JMO though, being a cert. Yamaha outboard mechanic.

Synthetics do make a difference, but most OEM oil is a "synthetic\conventional blend" anyway. Not sure about the Harley's, but most of the Jap manu. start out w\a "mineral oil" as break in oil, then recommend "their" oil after that.
I found royal purple for $8\qt, mobil 1 & amsoil are a little cheaper

Pretty much, but I switch my bikes a lot so I am only doing 1 change a month at this point or maybe two total.....keep in mind I have 3 bikes right now. It does get a bit expensive but the long term benefits of having a clean machine is worth it to me.

What's an ALBUM?

frikjmaser
08-31-2007, 12:14 PM
Back in the mid to late 20th century people used to have to acquire music on these things that they called records. Album was a slag for these records. Records were vinyl platters with sound waves stored on them that was picked up by a primitive needle which vibrated back and forth which induced a current in magnetic coils and produced an electrical modulation. These modulations were amplified thru the use of a device called an amplifier, then the resulting sound was output thru a 'hi-fi' speaker system.
