What's the names of some good chains manufacturers?
My uncle just broke the chain on his Busa tonight. He's pissed!!
Strong, but will last him a while.

DID and RK are the most popular. Be sure to get a 530 series and maintain it!

How do you know when it's getting about time to change your chain?

I bought my bike 16 months ago and so far I've put a bit over 14,000 miles on the chain, I've had to periodically move the tire back to take up some chain slack. But it seems to happen more often now...time for new chain and sprockets?

Any and all opinions are welcome...(opinions, is not a synonym for abuse)
:)

I think on my sv650 I am supposed to measure 20 pins (links?) on the chain and that span is supposed to be around 20mm.

when it gets harder and harder to adjust the chain and maintain it Id get a new one, you should lube it about every other gas tank full and about every oil change clean it as good as you can (especially in sandy florida). Dont use WD40 as it attracts dirt like aluminum cans attract bums. I like chain wax, all though belrays is nice since you can see where you sprayed it and missed spots, take it for a short ride and get the chain warm then spray lube on it. If it sounds like a box of rocks ditch it and get a new one.

at 14,000 miles I would go replace it, if it break it stands the chance of wadding up in the front sprocket and cracking the case and who knows what else isnt worth $150 for a chain and getting wrecked or even worse wrecking your bike.

What would you suggest to clean with( if wd40 is no good)?
