Hey guy's and gal's,
Why dont we plan a trip to deals gap in the spring . :P Here is some thoughts.
I would love to do it and if we plan far enough ahead for people that need to take time off it may work out.
I know some of the members are students and cant swing a trip like this on their own but I say we pool resources. I can rent a large enough trailer to haul 4 or so bikes and the riders who want to can ride in the truck with me. That would save a s%^t pile of money for those riders.
We rent rooms for 2 nights and drive strait through after work on thursday or friday that way we can ride all day 2 days.
one option and thoughts ... whatcha think

A deal's gap trip sounds great. I've heard Fontana Village is the place to stay up there. I've never been....been waiting to ride with someone.

As long as everybody gets their own rooms. I don't know if I'll be able to ride though, we might stay locked in the cabin all weekend!!! :D

That would be a good weekend for me as well ...
Any more takers ..... Other dates
Chiung and I went the first week of April a couple of years ago and it was perfect. Almost no traffic on the roads around the dragon. The dragon is always a zoo, especially on weekends. Not sure if I'll make it but make sure you hit the Cherahola Skyway (spelling?) It's an awesome road. THe day we hit it it was like our own private race track. I think we passed 2 cars the whole road. You will have a blast in that area. Just plan lots of roads so you don't put all your hopes on the dragon. Make sure you see the tree of shame but DON'T add to it.
Just my $.02 from our trip.

Fontana is nice - right in the middle of good riding. But not all the cabins have phones, and there is no cell phone service there.
This is the closest you can stay, right on the Dragon:

When Mike and I went we stayed up in Knoxville which was a bit far. We had a great time - definitely check out some of the other roads, the Dragon is just part of the appeal. Bring a good jacket or two and fresh tires on the bike.

March 28TH and 29TH sounds good, but what is the weather like up there then. I really have no idea. COLD?

Yes, it can get cold, especially the higher up you go, like Cherohala Skyway. I usually go mid to late April, and we had snow in 2005. Watch for black ice.
