The one couple recently that crashed in town, and now this. You can give all the "it's part of the sport" talk you want, but these are usually preventable mistakes. Ride safe people.

STAFF REPORT

Last updated Dec. 30, 2005

DAYTONA BEACH -- A 25-year-old Port Orange man died early this morning, and his woman passenger was injured, after he lost control of his motorcycle on Bellevue Road while traveling at high rate of speed.

Police said the 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by the victim was eastbound on Bellevue, between Williamson Boulevard and Clyde Morris Boulevard, when the accident occurred about 12:30 a.m.

The driver lost control of the motorcycle approaching a curve and was thrown from the bike along with passenger, police said. The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was dead at the scene. The passenger, who was wearing a helmet, was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Halifax Medical Center with leg and possible internal injuries.

The dead man's name is being withheld until relatives can be notified.

I know the firefighters that responded to both of those calls. It is very unfortunate indeed

Yes Jason a mechanic at Jim Walkers who rode a newer gsxr1k was killed there, my friend Jen who rides an R1 told me about it, were both upset hes was one of our buddies. First thing I asked her though was if he had a lid on b/c we barely ever saw him wear one...
