One dead in overnight motorcycle accident

DAYTONA BEACH -- A 25-year-old Port Orange man died early this morning, and his woman passenger was injured, after he lost control of his motorcycle on Bellevue Road while traveling at high rate of speed.
Police said the 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by the victim was eastbound on Bellevue, between Williamson Boulevard and Clyde Morris Boulevard, when the accident occurred about 12:30 a.m.
The driver lost control of the motorcycle approaching a curve and was thrown from the bike along with passenger, police said. The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was dead at the scene. The passenger, who was wearing a helmet, was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Halifax Medical Center with leg and possible internal injuries.
The dead man's name is being withheld until relatives can be notified.
