View Full Version : What is it with f<#>ing sales people!!!!!
I have been talking about getting my self an H.D. for better two up riding and I really like the Road King Custom. I went into "Rossmeyer's Taj-ma-Harley" today to look at them and I am real peeved about how I was handled. :bad-words: I looked around, and did not see one on the main floor. Three "staff" members stood there talking and never once asked if I needed help. Not finding what I was looking for I went up stairs to look. They did not have a new one,but there was a used one so I looked it over, threw a leg over it, and got a feel for the riding posistion. Still,no one comes over to talk to me. After a few minutes I see this couple come out of the elevator, and it was obvious they came in a car (or truck) because they looked like they were "coming from the beach" (ya know, shorts,flip-flops,and sun burn) Now I am sitting on this used Road King, with my riding gear on (jacket, jeans, and riding boots, hlemet was on the floor) cuz I had RODE A BIKE THERE! One sales man walks off towards the custom bikes and one starts chatting up the beach couple! I waited another couple of minutes and went back down stairs, past the the same three staff members talking, and on my way out the door, the lady at the reception desks asks me if I found everthing o.k. I said "no,as a matter of fact I did not" What was it you were looking for? she asked "I came in to look at and price a Road King Custom" I replied Let me get a sales person for you. she offered. My answer! "The three guys over there and the two upstairs let me stand around for over 15 minutes and never offered. I guess maybe it was the full face helmet in my hand and the no Harley shirt that turned them off" then out the door I went. I guess riding in on an old (2000) Triumph, and not wearing over priced H.D. clothing, disqualified me as a possible customer. When we buy a Road King, I can promise ya'll one thing. It won't be from them!!!! :finger:
Try the dealer in Ocala I've had friends buy from them with only good things to say.

Yep, and the guys in Gainesville are cool, too.
Maybe its a sign. You don't need an HD. If we lose you to the bar hopping Harley crowd who will lead our rides? I'm not stopping every 30 minutes for a beer and a half hour conversation about how much you spent on chrome this week :D .
 Don't worry Mike, I am not buying one for a while yet, just pricing them. When I do buy one,I will still keep a Triumph around for my solo rides. Besides, if Jim and I quit leading rides, then YOU can take over.

Zeb,
If your serious about a RaodKing, I have a buddy that wholesales Police RoadKings. About 3 weeks ago a friend of mine got a 2005 with 5000 miles on it and 11 months of warranty for $15,200 out the door.
This guy always has them in stock.
Shoot me a P.M., and I'll hook the two of you up.

Haha, my girlfriend works for harley and was offered a manager position at the new store but turned it down because its such a joke in there. None of the good employees wanna work there because of all the stupid rules out there. One of them consists of "employees are not allowed to walk on the bar and shield on the ground" most of the sales guys are idiots anyways.
I am serious about a Road King, and thanks for the offer. I have to get somethings in order (and paid off) before I buy. I hope to have one before my 40th b-day. (15 months away yet) When I went in there saturday I wanted to get a look at one, and start the shopping process. I was just venting my frustration over being treated like s#!t by dealers in general. Some of you remeber that we bought a 2005 Nissan van awhile ago. I was treated the same way by the sales people at the Nissan place the night we went in there to look. We were driving our '97 Plymouth van (well used) and the sales men did not even bother to walk over and talk to us. Ya know what. When I went back in there a few days later on a V-Rod, I did not even have my helmet off when the one of same snobs was right there asking if he could help me. I told him no I had bought the van from a another salesman.

I hate salesmen. One out of 10 seems to be decent. They think they are so great at reading people, but their observation skills only go as far as what you drove/rode in on.
At the HD dealer, I guess you didn't fit the cool biker image, since you had actual riding gear. Next time wear a leather vest with a bunch of patches on it, pull up in an Excursion, and watch them slobber all over you.

Its not just the Hardly dealerships, it happens at Jim Walkers too.

I walked into the Triumph/Ducati/Suzuki shop in Orlando and was approached by the "up" salesman. He asked how he could help me. I asked if he had or could order an MV F4-1000. "I dunno, but can check and will call you" no call, I called him, no response. I guess he thought I was spoofin'.....a call to management yielded an order and subsequent purchase, But it sure wasn't due to any salesman's efforts. I had to be my own salesman, but it was worth it.

I went into the BMW dealership today looking for a bike for a friend. The salesperson I had was the owners son. Tell you what guys, I didn't think he was much of a salesperson, but he seemed honest as hell and that matters to me. If I'm going to be buying a bike in the future, I'll check with him to see if he has what I want. Honesty is something I haven't seen in Daytona in awhile.
