How do I check my chain slack? Thnaks for the help...

Free play (slack) is checked midway between the front and rear sprockets because that's where the most play will be. There is usually a recommended amount free play in your manual. Do you have the manual ? If not there are some average numbers you can use to get close.

Err to the loose side, if you do not the suspension action will stretch the chain for you and cause substantial premature wear. Chain adjustment is somthing you do less than chainging the oil if it is set right.
