Even veteran race-watchers were astounded by Eric Bostrom's near impossible run from behind last Sunday when he beat Suzuki's Mat Mladin to the checkers at VIR.
Bostrom was unable to make a pass that stuck nearing the finish of the race, but did make a last second push towards the line that ended the race in a huge upset. Mladin was so upset by being beaten (after riding what a veteran Superbike rider called " a flawless race") that he did not attend the podium celebration nor the post-race press conference.
This photo, shot by Minnesota native Brian Nelson, shows how close the finish was. Note that Eric Bostrom won the race, but, here, mere feet before the line, Mladin has the advantage.
